March 2020: 3 more hospitals will use DeltaScan in routine care
Utrecht, 5 March 2020
Thirteen hospital departments from the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium are participating in CLEO (CLinical Evaluation Of DeltaScan). This international Clinical Evaluation Program is a stepped wedge study lead by UMC Utrecht (Prof Dr Slooter).
CLEO started in 2019 with a control phase. All staff (nurses and physicians) from the participating departments made a.o. delirium e-learnings, did delirium protocol checks and got a delirium checklist/protocol refreshment course. Then they enrolled in the control phase, in which the usual delirium checklists were continued to be used, for detection and monitoring of all patients at risk of delirium.
In March 2020 the third set of hospital departments enrolled in the intervention phase of CLEO.
This means that they use DeltaScan, in stead of checklists, for detection and monitoring for delirium in their patients.
Isala Meppel (NL) Geriatric traumatology department started to use DeltaScan in routine care per 1 March. Lateron in March Bernhoven (NL) ICU and Charité (G) ICU will enroll in the intervention phase.
